Some typical guests' reviews:
"Excellent location, lovely big room with view - would stay there again."
"Of course, we thought everything in Europe was expensive, but the location of The Aldini made this expense worth it. The young couple who own the hotel are very nice and were very helpful to us. We love Florence and The Aldini is in the best location! We would stay there again. In fact, this was our second stay. The noise we experienced was from the street, but that can't be helped. It's a busy place. I highly recommend this hotel (and have)."
"A spectacular location only steps from the Duomo, this quaint hotel offers great service by a wonderful and helpful staff."
"We only stayed one night but found the location perfect (we could walk everywhere) and the staff friendly. We had a beautiful view of the Duomo right from our window. The rooms are large, have a refridgerated honor bar and a hair dryer. The bathroom/shower was a bit unusual but adequate. They were also nice about letting us leave our luggage all day while we went site seeing."
"Central location, courtesy and good price. It's a very good choice indeed!"
"The Aldini couldn't be better situated...it's about 10 steps away from the Duomo! Our room overlooked Via Calzaiuoli and the views of the street and the Campanile were spectacular. The room was HUGE and the bathroom was, too. The staff were friendly but didn't speak much English, so it was difficult to get advice in planning outings. The breakfast was minimal. Overall a very pleasant stay and a good value. We would stay there again."
"Nice clean tidy room, Both of the Hotel owners were most helpful and spoke excellent english, also recommended a superb restaurant. Yes you can hear the bells at 7am but thats all part of the charm. Will return there when I am next in Florence."
"Booking Hotel Aldini through venere was easy and reliable. While we would have liked to stay in a more luxurious hotel, my friends and I were more than happy with the location, cleanliness and price of our accomodations. The only drawback was that some of the staff didn't speak english very well and we had some difficulty communicating the need for a hairdryer and getting instructions for the telephones - which, by the way, were extremely temperamental. All in all it was a great stay."
"We were a group of 5 friends and we were all very impressed with the location of the hotel-close to shops, sights and resteraunts. All rooms were air-conditioned(thankfully)-a factor we had not thought about before the trip. Our rooms were spacious and the only noise we heard was the sound of the bells ringing from the Duomo!"
"The property is excellent, extremely central, in one of the best locations in Florence, with very professional staff."
"Very nice room. Very clean. Staff was very helpful. Helped us in making reservations for tours. Very close to train station."
"Very Good!!"
"My room at the Hotel Aldini was really pleasant. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. The care offered by the staff is very good, and the maintenance conditions of both rooms and public spaces are very satisfactory. The bathrooms appeared recently renovated. In sum, the relationship between price and quality is good. It's a hotel highly recommendable.
"Great Location. Steps from Duomo. Located on Pedestrian only street."
"Hotel Aldini was in a fabulous location, right near the Duomo plaza. Arriving early on the morning by train, we had trouble finding it as it is only on the 3rd floor, and we were just expecting a lobby. Out of our windows, we could see the top of the Duomo. The people were friendly, and spoke English, so we were happy with reception. They kept our bags all day. I thought it was a bit expensive for a triple for a two star, but the location made it all worth it."
"The location is perfect, very close to all major tourist attractions. Had a view of the Duomo and Campanile, which if you are willing to sacrifice the noise level (which isn't horrible with the windows closed), then the view is wonderful, and the bells a pleasure."
"The cental location of Aldini was great. The staff was cordial and helpful. Our stay with them was wonderful. We will return again if posssible."

Montreal Hotel in Florence Some typical guests' reviews:
"One of the best hotels we ever stayed. Strongly recommended."
"It's a good hotel for the price. It's a two-minute walk from the train station and walking distance to major historical places. The hotel is clean and the staff is nice."
"Clean Hotel, newly remodled, good size rooms and working A/C."
"I was in Italy for 2 weeks, and my stay at the Montreal was quite pleasant, and it was the most affordable of any of the accomodations I had during my stay. I opted for a room with a shared bath, and it worked out just fine. For a few pennies more, you can get a room with a private bath. The hotel is within 5 minutes or less walking distance from the train station and is equally accessible to the major sites in Florence. I would definitely stay here again in the future."
"The rooms are nice, clean and air conditioned."
"The service was consistent with the type of hotel. Kind, considerate and prompt and not too pricey. The room was very nice and clean, spacious with its own wash basin, T.V. and airconditioning. The location is right in the heart of Florence just around the corner from the hub of the termini and very close to exceptional tourist spots, museums, market areas and postoffice."
"The room is clean and, what is most important during the hot summertime: air-conditionig is provided and this will considerably increase the quality of your sleep. In the public corridor a refrigerator is provided. An enjoyable breakfast is served for a relatively small fee. The hotel is situated only a few minutes by feet from the central railway-station. I can recommend to choose "Montreal"."
"Hotel Montreal is very easy to find from the trainstation. The room looked new, great, very big, with little balconny and clean and spacious bathroom. The location in the city is perfect, everything is at walking distance! The lady from te hotel also helped us book a room in Rome, very helpful!"
"I travelled to a lot of cities in Europe like Prague, London, Milan or Brussels but never met such a fantastic hotel. In other regions this hotel would get 3 or 4 stars, couldn´t also believe it´s an one-star-hotel. We just walked 5 minutes to the PonteVecchio. If u can´t decide between some hotels like me just choose this one."
"Hotel Montreal totally exceeded my expectations. It was easy to find (near train station Santa Maria Novelle) and had a whole row of food places and nearby banks and supermarket. The room itself was gorgeous and housekeeping good. Friendly and helpful receptionist, can't ask for more!"
"I think the Montreal far exceeds what you would expect for a 1 star and for the price. Location great when carrying a backpack and arriving by train: also easy walk to main sights. The street is OK and has Irish pub one side of hotel, good value restaurant with terrace on the other (but no noise problems from these). Basic but cheap breakfast good value. Shared toilet/shower room was fine."
"The look of hotel and facilities doesn't look like one star hotel at all, somehow even better than the three stars hotel I stayed in Roma. Receptions are very nice."
"Its worth more than the star rating it has got. We enjoyed staying there. The staff spoke english and were very helpful and the manager was very nice. The location was very nice and could walk down to most of the attraction, which save lot of time and effort. If I go back I would like to stay here only."
"Very good value for a hotel located within comfortable walking distance to city centre attractions. Facilties for this 1-star hotel were better than those in other 2-3 star hotels we stayed in."
"Very clean and newly remodeled. Certainly not the standard 1 star hotel. More like a 2 or lower end 3. I slept well."
"My stay in Montreal was excellent. I reserved a single room with shared bath and everything was very clean."
"The staff was very friendly and very helpful with my stay in Florence. I appreciated the fact that the room was very clean. I also loved the hotels proximity to everything, especially the train station."
"Hotel Montreal is a great option for Budget Travelers in Florence. It is by no means luxuourious, but it is clean, centrally located and for the price it can't be beat. We were traveling as a family group of 5 so we got one room with a private bath and two rooms with shared bath. The location is very convenient to the train station. And it is within walking distance of the romanitic spots like the Duomo and the Arno river."
"The convenience of location (mear the railroad station) was somethig we were looking for. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and centrally located. We had no complaints. After checking with friends who had stayed at other places, we believe this is a standard hotel with reasonable prices that we would recommend without hesitation to other friends."
"Montreal Hotel was extremely easy to find from the Florence train station and within easy walking distance. Overall our stay was very pleasant and we were made to feel welcome and any questions and advice sought was gladly given from the reception. We had not been in Florence for ten years and we were expecting a tiny room - this was not the case. Our room was a reasonable size, with private bathroom."
"Montreal is a great hotel and was definitely higher than its one star rating. Its in a great location, a couple of minutes away from Santa Maria Novella station and a walkable distance to any sight. It was a great experience."
"Out of the 4 hotels we stayed throughout Italy, this was our favorite. We had room with a shared bath. We didn't know what to expect since this was our first time sharing a bath but we never had a problem because we never had to wait on anyone."
"I have chosen the hotel because many people's reviews mentioned that it should be rated higher than one star. It is a hundred percent true. We took a room without bathroom and this bathroom which we shared with other two rooms was always unbelievably clean, as well as the room itself. In general, I would highly recommend the hotel: good location, nice staff and nice and clean rooms."
"Hotel was clean and newly renovated in an excellent location close to main station and all attractions. Staff were friendly and we would definitely stay there again if in Florence. Some noise from crowded bar next door but not too drastic."
"Rooms were clean and brand new."
"We were very pleased with out stay at Montreal, its closeness to the bus and train stations makes it ideal for those travelling without cars. The room was very spacious and the ensuite bathroom was very clean and bright. I would strongly recommend this hotel, we were very pleased with out three night stay."
"Great value: low prices, clean rooms, modern bathrooms, 2 blocks from the train station, less than a 10-minute walk to all of the main sites, lots of little restaurants nearby and the fun Joshua Tree Pub practically next door. Not sure if it was just midweek, but there was a 1:30am curfew, and you have to walk up for the higher floors, but the sunlight and partial rooftop views are worth it. Compared to other places I stayed at in Italy, this deserves much more than a 1-star rating. Would defintely stay here again."
"Montreal was really excellent, very nice rooms and atmosphere, to us far above the grade of a 2-star-hotel. Considering that Firenze is an expensive town, the price was also ok, but be prepared, if you are by car, that you have to pay 18 euro per day for a garage."
"The "Montreal" was absolutely perfect for our stay. Near the bus- and railway-station, near all the famous sights and with a nice restaurant in front of the door. Thanx to the staff! They were all very nice and helpful. A great stay in the most beautiful Italian city."
"I was very impressed by the Hotel and would definitely recommend it. The staff was very accomodating and the rooms were clean and modern (great bathroom, too)."
"The room was much better than expected; spacius and well located, only two blocks from the train station; and close enough to the city atractions. If you are short of time and seeking for something not too expensive I highly recomended this hotel."
"Rooms were spotless and desk staff were wonderful. Great budget price stay within walking distance of the main sites and railway station. Some noise from the bar next door but given everything else, this was bearable. I've already recommended this hotel and your service to a good friend."
"Very convenient location, close to railway station and bus station and ten minutes walk from the Duomo. The Via della Scala was quiet and only open to pedestrians but this may have been because it was the weekend. The owners and staff spoke excellent English and were very pleasant and helpful. We were given a large 3 bedded room with private facilities for the same price as the shared facility twin bedded room that we had booked. A real bonus that we had not expected was air conditioning which was so welcome as we arrived in weather hotter than usual for June -35 degrees centigrade! It was bliss to return to our room to cool down and shower before venturing out again. There are several reasonably priced restaurants close by and a very good pasticcheria, so don't worry about lack of breakfasts - do as the italians do and have it in the hand or more leisurely sitting at the table and pick what you fancy from a wide selection of sweet and savoury goodies. Altogether a very pleasnt stay would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a base in Florence."
"For the price, the Hotel Montreal is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are clean, it has airconditioning, the hotel staff was friendly and they speak English. For a small price, I got a very nice single room with a private bathroom. The only things it lacks that more expensive hotels might have are atmosphere and public areas. Other than that, it was as good as a three star hotel I stayed in in Milan."
"Hotel Montreal was an ideal location for our needs. The hotel is in easy walking distance of all the site in Florence and close to the train station for easy day trip to other cities in Italy. We really enjoyed our stay."
"The hotel is quite close to the railway station. The hotel employees are very nice, they even recommended a restaurant nearby which can give us 10% discusscount with the business card of the hotel. I would like to stay in this hotel next time."

Centrale Hotel in Florence Some typical guests' reviews:
"A pension with charm and high ceilings, superbly located for exploring Florence on foot and handy for the train and bus stations. Amazingly quiet for the situation, friendly staff and a better breakfast than you would expect for the price."
"We enjoyed our stay in Florence at the Centrale very much! It is a very friendly and quiet place, where we could retreat from the heat outside for short breaks at any time of the day, because it is so close to the duomo and many of the other interesting places. The rooms were very clean, the staff was very helpful and friendly in all respects. The booking of tickets for the uffici was very convenient. The hotel is situated on the second floor (there is a lift!), which makes the lounge a nicely quiet place, where we enjoyed espresso and cappuccino before going out in the afternoon or had drinks at the hotel bar in the evening- all of it at reasonable prices. The breakfast was very nice with a variety of choices- if you find the coffee too strong, just ask for tea! We had a very happy stay at the hotel, which had very nicely tiled floors creating a clean and pleasantly cool atmosphere. My friends and I strongly recommend this hotel!"
"The Centrale is very conveniently situated just a short walk from the station and very close to the Duomo. This meant that we could return frequently during the day and thus avoid having to carry too many things with us. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was amazing considering the price of the hotel - there was even home made cake and apple strudel; we never needed any lunch. We felt the Centrale was excellent value and will certainly stay there again when we return to Florence."
"Our second stay at this hotel and won't be our last. We had a smaller room this time without bathroom - ensuite not available. This meant a smaller room but still fine. The cot provided for the baby was more than adequate and also free of charge. The breakfast was plentiful with good variety. The staff were extremely helpful, especialy over parking. All in all, a lovely pensione"
"Convenient to train station; 10 minute walk with luggage. 2nd floor with lift. 16th century building. Shared bathroom (toilet); clean and no waiting ever. Room had sink, large shower with abundant hot water, and bidet. Very quiet-no street noise even with open window. Excellent, abundant breakfast. Many Americans, some with extensive travel experience. Staff was kind and very helpful; made reservations for museums. Strongly recommended for lower-cost hotel with old world character. Short walk to Duomo and other major attractions, museums, restaurants, shops. We will stay there next time."
"We found the hotel to be very good value for money. Breakfast was excellent!"
"The hotel's interiors have a country charm which gave a different twist to our vacation, as we have gotten used to the usual interiors of modern hotels. The hotel and its rooms looked more like a huge house with huge rooms, serving hearty breakfasts. It was also very near the Cathedral and the terminal."
"Once inside, this hotel was very welcoming with nice lounge/bar and breakfast room. The building is an old townhouse with really high ceilings, large rooms, slightly antiquated but clean and comfortable. Very nice day staff, large breakfast, good price for Florence. Would highly recommend for the budget-conscious. Though the location is great, the hotel was difficult to get to by driving a car into Florence at night (with one-way streets, etc.) and we had to then drive the car to a nearby garage to park (not totally unexpected). The street entrance is not well marked, and since the lobby is upstairs arriving is a bit confusing. But once settled our stay was great!"
"This was a nice place, friendly people, and a good value. Overall it is a great place to stay for the value...very central to all..."
"Excellent central location with quiet room. They even provided a portable airconditioner (that worked). The bedroom was clean and spacious but the bathroom was a bit on the small and damp side. The hosts were wonderful and even gave us a lovely bottle of chianti as a parting gift."
"Very warm and friendly staff. They couldn't do enough to help us. Our room was very large and we had a nice view of the Duomo. One of the better breakfasts served while we were in Italy and this hotel was well worth the price for Firenze. We would be happy to stay here again."
"THE HOTEL WAS EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEEDED IT TO BE IN FLORENCE, CLOSE TO THE STATIONS AND IN THE TOURIST AREA. THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS ROOMY AND MADE YOU FEEL VERY SPECIAL, BEING AN OLD PALACE. YOU CERTAINLY GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH STAYING HERE AS THE BREAKFASTS WERE AMPLE TOO."
"Wonderful and considerate hosts who helped us with details. Very good breakfast. The bathroom was rather small but it was clean as was the room. The location is excellent and allowed easy walking to all sites."
"Nice hotel, clean, and location was perfect... 5 minutes walk to all major places."
"Having heard that hotels in Florence tended to offer poor value, I was pleasantly surprised by this rather charming pensione. Location is good too - in a quiet alley off a main street, close to train station and Duomo."
"Ideal location if you want to forget your car."
"Very central location convenient for all the sights and a short walk from the station. Basic budget accommodation with few facilities but with character and clean and tidy. Helpful and sometimes friendly staff. Just what we needed and met our expectations."
"Breakfast was excellent, good choice of food and drink and plenty of it."
"Breakfast was great. Location was great. Staff was very nice. We'd stay there again."
"Excellent location, close to the Duomo. Large clean room. Small elevator up to hotel on second floor. Good breakfast. Pretty quiet, by Florentine standards probably extremely quiet..."
"Very polite and helpful staff. Nice room, good convenient location. Would stay here again."

Overall opinion. Guests have given the Enza Hotel consistently high ratings on all aspects of their stay.
Some typical guests' reviews:
"The standard and the nice staff at Hotel Enza was a pleasant surprise for such an affordable hotel."
"The staff was so helpful and spoke English very well. One gave us directions to a Restaurant and it was so good we ate there twice. It was in walking distance of everything and so convenient to all the main attractions. I would recommend it to anyone else."
"Hotel Enza was a real jewel to find in Florence. The hotel was spotless. We had one night to stay there, and we had a wonderful time. Our hosts were very helpful and the breakfast was wonderful. Also, we were well within walking distance of the major sights including the Accademia (Michelangelo's David), Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo. We highly recommend this place to other travellers."
"It is a nice hotel with a very friendly staff and near to the sights. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was like Italian style."
"An excellent one star hotel, offering really good value for money."
"Good furnished rooms, quiet in the heart of Florence, close to the Central Station, The Central Market and historical high lights in the Old Town. Very good relationship between price and quality. I enjoyed staying there."
"The staff was the best we encountered all through Italy. Sevellio(sp) the night clerk was very friendly and when we decided to stay an extra night in Florence he found us a room and gave it to us for the same price. STAY HERE!!!!"
"We had a Triple with bathroom and both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious. It overlooked the garden so we had no street noise at all. An excellent choice if you are going to Florence, 10 minutes from both the Duomo and train station. The staff was friendly and provided excellent references for eating and travel agents (to purchase train tickets)."
"This was billed as a one star hotel, but definitely the decor and furnishings were of a standard that could be expected in a hotel of 3/4 stars. Friendly, helpful staff. Coffee served to room if required. Lots of attention to detail; furnishing interesting and eclectic. 10 mins walk from centre. Would definitely go again. Pay a visit to the BeBop club, Via Servi. Usually has live cover bands. We saw an excellent Pink Floyd tribute band there."
"Everything was just as they said only better! The rooms were big and very clean. The staff was so nice and very helpful. It was quiet, away from the noise of the city which after being in the city all day was a haven. We would definitely recommend it!"
"Outstanding stay at the Enza hotel. The friendliest and most helpful staff we've seen so far. Room was newly renovated."
"I really enjoyed this hotel. The room was quite large, considering what I paid, and the staff is EXCELLENT--very friendly, helpful, and competent. Highly recommended."
"You only need to know two words about Enza -- “stay here.” This former convent is ideally located just far enough away from the city’s center to give you a quiet night’s sleep, but it’s an easy ten minute walk away from both the Duomo and the train station. Enza has TV security cameras in the entranceway and a person staffing the hotel desk at all times. The people at the desk were extremely friendly and helpful, making reservations for us at both the Uffizi and the Accademia. Our room was spacious, clean, and had lots of storage. The bathroom was large and spotless. At night, the rooms are really quiet, so you can get a good night’s rest after a hard day of sightseeing. Travelers’ note: Florence has a unique way of numbering street addresses. Businesses use red numbers, while residences (including hotels) use black numbers. So, on via San Zenobi, there are two addresses with the number 45. The red one is a travel agency, the black one (about a block north under the “hotel” sign) is Enza."
"Hotel is just as advertised, inexpensive stay, friendly, helpful staff with English-speaking capabilities and pretty good location. We would stay there again no problem."
"Hotel Enza is perfectly located for any visit to Florence. It is in a quiet street with little traffic noise to disturb your sleep. It is within easy walking distance of all the major sights and is also an easy walk from the train station. Our room was large and comfortable, with tall shuttered windows opening out into a small courtyard/garden area, which although unkept gave a very Italian feel to our accomodation. My only criticism would be that our 'double' bed was actually 2 singles pushed together. Nevertheless, I would recommend Hotel Enza to anyone going to Florence and I would go back there myself."
"I found the staff to be very helpful to my needs especiallt making reservations to impotant places of interest. I really ejnoyed my stay and have passed the word to people who may want to travel to Florence and about Enza."
"We were especially pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They really made a difference in the quality of our stay."
"The staff is the best thing going for this establishment, and thats alot because the facilities were great. From reservations to directions these people accomodated anything we needed. Outstanding!"
"The Hotel is within comfortable walking distance of the city centre yet is suprisingly quiet. The staff were very welcoming and the room was of a good size."
"The beauty and cleanliness of the room and hotel and the welcoming of the staff really surprised us. Although this hotel has one star only, it is surely superior to that rating, and, given the prices in Florence, I recommend it to everyone."
"We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Enza, and would stay there again in Florence. The staff was helpful pointing out stores and locations and had maps of Florence available. It was close to The Central Mercato so we could buy fresh produce."
"The hotel was very nice, well located and the staff more than helpful. We had a wonderful stay and will recommend it to our friends traveling to Florence, Italy."
"Within walking distance of all attractions. No car parking except on street. Great location. Better than most of the three and four stars we stayed at. Would gladly reccomend or stay at the Enza again."
"Hotel Enza was great! Affordable, friendly...we'll definitely stay there again when we return to Florence!"
"Very pleasant facility, recommend highly."
"An excellent place to stay at!"
"The staff at the Enza are wonderful, rooms are small but very clean. Great location, very close to Accademia area, good facilities in the area -- laundry, internet cafes, restaurants. It would be my choice again."
"Don't be put off by the 1 star rating that this hotel receives. We stayed in 10 hotels during our stay in Italy, and this was the only 1 star hotel. However, it was nicer than all of the 2 star hotels and some of the 3 star hotels that we stayed in. Everyone spoke English at the desk, and they were very helpful. We highly recommond this hotel."
"Clean place in quiet surroundings, friendly staff."
"The Hotel Enza is very cute. Cleanliness above average, spacious rooms (we had a double), nice, homey atmosphere, and a friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Duomo and main attractions."

Some typical guests' reviews:
"Quite an experience, the people were very nice, the place makes you feel like a Florentine with the homey atmosphere that makes you feel you are actually living there instead of a hotel."
"The Florence Old Bridge is a fantastic value. No, it doesn't have many frills, such as a hair dryer or safe, but for the money it offers a large, clean room and a wonderful location."
"Good relationship between quality and price, exceptional location."
"Excellent location in Oltrarno, very near nice restaurants, very courteous staff (Cosimo & Andrea), nice rooms and Excellent Value."
"Very nice place to stay really close to Florence's center. A big problem could be only access it with car and find parking."
"Well located to most major attractions. Walking was our preferred method of getting about and it was easy to get to everywhere we wantedt to go. It is a shame that breakfast cannot be included to make the package just about perfect. Our host, Andrea, was very helpful and considerate. Security was good and the immediate area was pleasant although busy with tourist and local traffic."
"We (my wife and I - she was 6 months pregnant) had a lovely stay. Very nice clean room and reception lady very welcoming. The hotel is very close to the centre of Florence so everything was walkable - even for my wife! I recommend it - not cheap, but what is in Florence? Left to do your own thing, clean, aircon and very central. Thanks Florence Old Bridge."
"The rooms at The Florence Old Bridge was as good as any three star hotel that I have stayed in during many past visits to Italy, very clean, lovely bathroom and the added bonus of good air conditioning which is not always availble in 3 Star Hotels. So although the property only has 1 star rating it really exceeded what I had imagined. The location was excellent and the staff very helpful. Will be making a visit again!"
"Great location. Rooms are quiet and tastefully done."
"This is a very well kept, excellently located b and b with competent managers. The bathroom was brand new and very functional and clean. Heartily recommended."
"Probably they could add a bed/breakfast service."
"The location is excellent for the price, just on the other side of the Arno within walking distance of old Florence. The room was furnished in old-fashioned European style and had a large bathroom with a shower. This is not a hotel in the traditional sense. It is really an appartment that has been turned into a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. There are no ammenities and the front desk is only staffed during the day. You get a key to the front door and the appartment. We enjoyed our stay at Florence Old Bridge and would recommend it to travelers who enjoy being independant."
"We loved our stay at Old Bridge and we thought Paolo, the manager was wonderful! He was so helpful to us in everyway. He made our stay extra special."

Serviced by an elevator, the hotel is very accommodating to families with children, and has many rooms for up to 4 people.
All places of historic-cultural interest are within minutes' walk.
Some windows have beautiful views of San Lorenzo Basilica, the Medici Chapels and the dome of Florence Cathedral.
All rooms have been recently renovated in a typical Florentine style.
All rooms have air-conditioning, private safe, mini-bar.
All the bathrooms are new, with shower and hair-dryer.
Some typical guests' reviews:
"This hotel is in a very handy position. Close to the train and in a bustling neighborhood. The staff were extremely nice and helpful and very accomodating as far as our young children were concerned. The breakfast was also good."
"I can honestly say that this was the best value hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were extremely welcoming and pleasant and the cosy breakfast room overlooked San Lorenzo Square. Breakfast was excellent - choice of cereal, fresh fruit and eggs, cheese and delicious fresh crusty rolls and croisants, all complemented by steaming cappucino. We will most certainly use this hotel on our next visit to Florence."
"Nice hotel--great location. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel."
"Well located right in the heart of Florence. Hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Had a great stay."
"The Hotel Giada fit our needs perfectly. Some of my favourite things about my stay there were the breakfasts, the ceiling fan in the room AND the portable A/C unit, internet access in the lobby, and the friendly, competent staff. The room itself was very large. The area around the hotel is colorful and exciting since it is the market area, but can be loud beginning around 4 am when the carts start arriving. (I thought it sounded like a true Renaissance street, with the wagon wheels clacking against the cobblestones, but it may not suit everyone!) Closing the windows cut out most of the noise. My only criticism would be that the room was pretty drab (cork board was the main decorative motif) and smelled strongly of some kind of disinfectant. But overall, it was a great stay, especially considering the price. I would recommend it to friends."
"Very spacious public areas."
"Hotel Giada is a very nice place to stay. The location is perfect, close to the center and the train station. It was a five minute walk to get to the duomo. The rooms are large enough. The one that we had did not have a window on the street, so it was absolutly silencious. The breakfast was excellent and there was also a computer that we could use with an internet connexion. We were very satisfied with our stay at this hotel."
"Nice, moderate hotel. Very good location. A bit noisy along side street. Very nice managers. Pleasant stay."
"Excellent location, 5 minutes walk from the station and Duomo. Wide choice of restaurants nearby, enjoyed Zsa-Zsa just by Mercato Centrale and re-visited Quattro Leoni trattoria, excellent not far from Piazza Santo Spirito but booking essential. Giada is a very comfortable, well located hotel with friendly and accommodating personnel. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel in such a beautiful city. I visited with my 15 year old daughter and felt very safe."
"Hotel Giada is the perfect choise if you want to be in the center of Firenze and have a good accommodation at the same time. We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Giada and look forward to come back."
"Excellent location in the very centre, perfect breakfast."
"A hotel of good class in the middle of the city centre."
"Excellent location just 3 blocks walk from the train station and across the street from San Lorenzo and the Medici chapel. The staff was friendly and professinal. We got 2 rooms with a view, they were some of the largest we had on our trip and watching the street vendors set up in the mornings was free entertainment. Not really fancy but all in all quite nice. They also had a laptop computer set up for the guests to use to check our e-mail. I would gladly stay again or recommend this hotel to others."
"With ideal location in the heart of the old quarter this small hotel offers a friendly service and excellent value for money. Being away from main roads & with double glazing, our room overlooking the market was quiet & our sleep undisturbed. The staff were friendly & efficient & were able to help with any information we needed. A good continental breakfast made a welcome start to the day & the thoughtfull little Christmas gift (we stayed mid December) we received at the end of our stay was the perfect finishing touch. Was I completely happy - Yes. Would I stay there again - Absolutely!"
"I was unfortunate enough to lose my credit cards in transit to Italy. The staff at Giada were extremely helpful, allowed me access to the net via their PC to obtain card details etc. & allowed me to call my card provider to cancel the card & authorise the payment. In addition the Hotel itself was centrally positioned, & extremely convenient. Highly recommended."

Medici Hotel in Florence Medici Hotel is an extremely good value hotel right in the middle of Florence historical center, between Piazza Duomo and Piazza della Signoria, the two squares which form the very heart of the city.
Medici Hotel is located at a stone's throw from the Cathedral, or Duomo, at the beginning of the pedestrian area, therefore in a quiet position, yet at the same time easy to reach by car, enjoying the best of both worlds.
On the top floor of the hotel there's a large roof-garden terrace directly facing the Cathedral, affording enchanting, breathtaking views of the whole city.
All rooms have direct dial telephone.
Some rooms have en-suite bathroom, TV, hair-dryer, and beautiful views of Florence monuments.
Medici Hotel in Florence Some typical guests' reviews:
"The Medici is ideally located in the centre of Florence only yards from the Duomo with a 6th floor roof terrace that gives an excellent view of the City's most striking feature. For such a central location the accommodation prices are extremely good value. The Hotel itself is fairly basic as befits the price, offering a reasonable breakfast and a lift which certainly helps with the reception being on the 5th floor. Overall I was pleased with the Medici and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Florence, within easy walking distance of the Railway Station and at an affordable price."
"My friends and I booked a triple room with bath and were very impressed. We have already recommended the hotel to other friends and will certainly come back ourselves. Thank you for a delightful stay."
"Worth it for the location and view alone."
"This is a small hotel with lovely small rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our luggage was lost for three days and they helped us with finding it by calling the airport since we did not speak Itialian. The rooms were clean. The view was awesome. It has a lovely roof garden that overlooks the city and the location was just what we were looking for. Thank You."
"Rooms were of a basic standard but very clean. However, the views from the rooftop terrace were unbelievable. 50 yds from the Duomo, and views in the opposite direction, over the Uffizi, of the Arno. Excellent stay."
"The position was also excellent, very close to the Duomo but very quiet."
"Deck on 6th floor has fantastic view of Duomo and city. Room was spacious."
"Very well welcomed by a guy who speaks French fluently. Nice hotel (great view on the duomo)and great area."
"Nicely located in the center of the beautiful city of Firenze. The employees are very helpfull and friendly. A recomendable accomodation if you like a nice clean place without the luxury of The Plaza!"
"The hotel is charming, staff very polite and helpful, location is fantastic and a real bonus in Florence is the car parking service at a reasonable rate! The hotel description and website pictures were very helpful, as was the map, we asked for a "view of the monuments" and had a good view of the cathedral campanile and dome. The room was very nice, two big windows and ceiling fan, bathroom had seen better days but good value for Florence and lots of character!"
"There were no "downsides" to staying at Medici Hotel...the location was ideal, the terrace with its views and atmosphere was stunning, the staff very delightful and helpful. I will definitely visit this hotel should I be blessed with the opportunity to return to Florence for the 4th time!"
"The Medici Hotel is very depressing as you enter the building on the ground level, but you just have to get past that feeling and go up to the registration desk on the fifth floor and it will be much better! This is definitely a "no frills" hotel, but the bed was one of the most comfortable of all of the places we stayed in our month long trip through Italy, the linens were clean, the room was quite large, and the location could not be beat! The bathroom was very tiny, but manageable with a very old shower stall, but, once again, it was serviceable. The breakfast was the standard breads and coffee, with good fresh rolls and biscuits for dipping into the very good coffee. The service in the breakfast room was prompt, and more coffee was always available on request. The rooftop terrace was beautiful with a green arbor and beautiful flowers all over. Three tables overlooked the dome and bell tower of the cathedral...a breathtaking view. We brought our food and bottle of wine up to the terrace each afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our view. We would definitely stay at the Medici again!"
"There are two things that make this place wonderful: Location, and the view of the Duomo. It is right in the center of Florence and 10 minutes from the train station. Perfect! The spectacular view on its 5th floor terrace of the Duomo was the last thing we saw every night while drinking a Tuscan red. Price and the staff at the front were wonderful! Drawbacks were the cleaning staff cleaned the room once (before we got there) during our 4 night stay. Also the shower drain was poorly designed so that when you showered, water ran all over the bathroom and into the room. We only used the room for sleep and storage of our bags, so overall this was a very good place that we would recommend to our friends!"
"After a long trip hitting 6 major cities in France and Italy our last 3 nights at Medici were wonderful. The room was comfortable and clean, there was actually a real shower with water pressure and once the windows were closed the street noise was blocked better than anywhere else on our trip. There's a great Gelato shop right across the street and all the monuments are witin walking distance of the hotel. Great location, the staff was helpful and I was very happy with my room."
"Great location, price was fair and room comfortable. Would stay here again!"
"The lobby being located on the 5th floor was a little inconvenient considering the 4 of us, our luggage and the tiny elevator but, this was a wonderful hotel, wonderful 6th floor terrace and a great location with a great price. I would stay here again, no doubt."
"Great location, super price, clean comfortable rooms, and an overall great bargain. Only probem is that the hotel tends to be rather noisey."
"Easy to find--GREAT location--worn but clean."
"Very central and therefor convenient, romantic view over the roofs and to the duomo."
"The location was perfect ! Just around the corner, both ways there were shops, large stores and open market.... also the main street for shopping!~ Very safe-feeling and convenient to everything. We walked everywhere. It's not the Hilton..(it's rather old.. but in style with old Florence) but you dont spend lots of time in the room. Only difficulty was the shower. The bathroom was very samll.. clean ! But one had to sit on the toilet or stand touching it to shower. Just made it a bit inconvenient. The whole bathroom was wet when finished. Still it was adequate."
"The hotel and staff were absolutley wonderful. The location was fantastic... I could pratically touch the dome...breath taking to say the least. I will be returning to Florence as often as possible and will stay at the Medici for sure!"
"This hotel is ideal for travellers who are looking for budget accomodation in the centre of Florence. The location is really easy to find, just near the Duomo and in a busy shopping area. Don't be put off by the lift, because reception for check in is on the 5th floor! The shared bathroom was a good standard and clean, and whilst the rooms are a bit shabby its adequate for a short stay. Don't miss the view of the Duomo and the centre from the balcony on the top floor."
"The hotel has a fantastic roof-terasse with an overwhelming view over parts of Florence, the dome seems to be right in front of you. This compensated much for a nice, but really noisy room! Breakfast could have been a bit more and perhaps not only dry bread and jam. But summarized it`s a recommendable hotel: great location in the heart of Florence, friendly service and tidy rooms."
"Considering we were in Florence on a budget during peak season, the stay was a real bargain. Room was spacious, clean and with shower. Only little niggles such as noise and lack of fan came as expected. Central location, stunning views from seated roof area. The double room cost less than the youth hostels where we would've had to put up with dormatories."
"The view from the roof terrace was spectecular, you could almost touch the bell tower of the duomo. Very good value for money."
"You cannot beat Medici for the location and price! It is located in the heart of the tourist attractions - right between the Duomo and Piazza Repubblica - and makes visiting Florence easy. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable, from the front desk to the housekeeping to the breakfast service. It could use an update on the furnishings, and the mattress was soft, but it was always clean. I would definitely stay there again, as a budget traveler. You won't find luxury, but you will have a nice home base for your stay in Florence."
"The view from the roof is amazing at sunset. The Duomo bells ring early so be ready to get up at 7am. Perfect location with walking distance to all the museums and amusements. If you are going to Florence, take the Accidental Tourist tour! It is a must and they have information at the desk."
"Excellent value for money especially when this is a 2-star hotel. It's proximity to local tourist attractions would be hard to beat. Staff were very friendly and helpful. English was well spoken. Recommend anyone visiting Florence on a modest budget to stay here. During summer, ensure you request for a fan in your room as everywhere is hot. Will be back to Medici again in future."
"The Medici has a wonderful location right around the corner from the Duomo, and impressively overlooks it and the Baptistry from the lovely roof top terrace - a fine view to contemplate whilst sipping a glass of wine at the end of the day! Everything a tourist in Florence could want is nearby."
"very satisfied, it was exactly what i was looking for, good localisation, nice atmosphere. i had a very pleasent stay there."
"A rather rundown hotel in a wonderful position in walking distance to everything with a fabulous roof garden overlooking the Duomo."
"You can't beat the location of this hotel - simply excellent. The room was a quad room and was quite spacious. The staff was fine and the view from the rooftop terrace was unbeatable."
"The location of this hotel is very desirable since it is in the pedestrian zone which helps keep noise level down. We were absolutely amazed with the view of the Duomo from the rooftop area. Could not have been any better. The beautiful garden area on the roof was a pleasant surprise also. The room was very clean."
"The best view, looking out onto the Cathedral, Campinile and Baptistry. I would definitely stay there again."
"Hotel Medici is well situated in Florence- easy access to the Duomo and to all shopping."
"I really enjoyed this place. It's location was such that you would have thought the city had been buit around it. I will definitely go back again. The staff was wonderful. Especially Gabrielle at the front desk. He was a hoot. The views from the terrace were fabulous and what a wonderful place to go and view the city from."

Hotel San Giovanni is in a dream location, in via Cerretani at the entrance of the superb Piazza del Duomo, Florence cathedral square, which the hotel overlooks.
San Giovanni Hotel in Florence The hotel is actually in the two beautiful medieval tower buildings that in the 16th century became the bishop's private residence.
Today it is still possible to see in some of the rooms the original frescos.
Hotel San Giovanni, which the owners define as a "charateristic old worldly Florentine pensione", is right in the heart of Florence's historical centre, in one the world's most beautiful piazzas, and is a short walk from the city's many art treasures, galleries, monuments, shops, markets and other tourist attractions, and 5 minutes' walk from the main Central Railway Station.
The staff are helpful, and will assist with reservations for tours, galleries, museums and restaurants.
Rooms are large, bright and comfortable, with parquet on the floors. Only some rooms have en-suite bathroom.
Rooms have an amazing, stunning view of the Duomo, with its huge dome, Brunelleschi's Cupola, and Giotto's Campanile.
Some typical guests' reviews:
"You can't beat the location and the rooms have incredible character to them, including the unique partial frescoes on the ceiling. I have stayed in many fancier hotels, but I really enjoyed the San Giovanni for its unique flavor of Italy and its extreme value for its location."
"We loved our room, little small, but when your hardly there , just to sleep , its just fine. little noisy , but for good reason. its in the heart of the city."
"This place is amazing. The frescos in the rooms are gorgeous."
"San Giovanni is a very quaint hotel with much character. Its location in the centre of Florence is extremely convenient as all the museums and places of interest are within a short walking distance. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and breakfast is provided in a sister hotel across the street (though I was unaware of this for the first 2 days). We experienced some noise level in the room due to pumping and the adjacent bathrooms being extremely close together, however in many ways it all added to the character of the building. Overall the hotel is extremely well situated and is very good value for money."
"We really enjoyed our week long stay. Staff were always very courteous and helpful. Our room was basic but charming with a view of the duomo. Although the room didn't have an ensuite there were 3 bathrooms just across the hall and they were always kept very clean. I thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable room in Florence."
"Very warm and helpful staff; they called the Uffizi for us, recommended excellent restaurants, and answered all of our various questions. Room was very clean, decoration was cozy and quite lovely. We shared a bathroom and it was always available, and directly across the hallway. View of the Duomo, breakfast in our room, elevator worked (though small, lucky to get one at all in Florence). We controlled the heat in our room. Overall, a really great deal."
"Lovely hotel in a great location, near the Cathedral. Slightly noisy at night due to its central location. Very spacious, clean rooms. Unbeatable value for money."
"Why not stay in a one-star hotel when it is aesthetically pleasing (if a little funky --a somewhat awkward conversion of a 1000-year-old palazzio) and it has the Duomo out the window, brand new mattresses ( a needed imrovement that arrived the day we left...) and warm and helpful staff? You might prefer something more bland and expensive if street noise (including bells from Giotto's tower) bothers you, or if you mind going down the hall for a shower whose temperature you don't have a lot of control over. I thought this hotel was interesting and pleasant enough to be one of the highlights of our trip."
"Location is close to the train station, and half block from the Duomo. Access to all the main attractions can be reached on foot from the hotel. The breakfast was provided at an affiliate hotel across the street. Not too inconvenient, and quite reasonable. The staff was very helpful and the internet was available to the guests. Very helpful to us."
"The location of the hotel was excellent and the owners very helpful in arranging for tickets for museums, etc... The room was spartan, but a fair size for the money."
