THE JOB MARKET IN THE UK & ONLINE COURSES

Britain, compared to other European countries, is a good place to find a job. Due to the flexibility of the job market and working laws here, finding a job is easier than in other parts of Europe. Besides, the Brits are an easy-going bunch, not concerned with formalities, and with little bureaucracy.
It seems to compare well with the USA and Japan as well. The UK has the highest level of employment and the lowest level of unemployment in the G7, the group of the 7 most industrialized countries in the world, according to government figures.

In the British job market, the best opportunities are to be found in the field of IT (Information Technology) and in the commerce-management field. In Britain as everywhere, that is, engineers and salespeople are the most sought after figures.
Britain has a shortage of skilled labour in many fields: healthcare, medicine, doctors, nursing, teaching, electronics, IT and engineering are the most obvious, but also accountancy, social work, and, paradoxically, recruitment are experiencing a shortage in qualified personnel.
The worst-affected industry sectors concern specialist skills, with 20 % of employers complaining that they had problems filling posts requiring technical and engineering skills, 19% with IT and 16% with accounting skills. According to a recent survey, two-thirds of British firms are experiencing the crisis.

One of the best prospects for a job-seeker, therefore, is to get trained and develop those skills that are so much sought after.
There are a number of ways of doing that. Here are some of the best providers of home training courses to be found online.

So desperate is the need for qualified staff that the UK government is relaxing visa laws to let workforce from India, Eastern Europe and Israel make up the shortage. In the meantime, the country's 450,000 computer programmers, web designers and other experts are reaping the benefits: they earn 100,000 pounds a year, or 350 for a freelance day work.
Nurses are already flocking here from overseas. Now it's the moment of social workers from New Zealand. Social workers are in high demand in the UK and opportunities exist to make excellent money, due to recent changes to UK working holiday visas. New Zealanders can now apply for professional jobs while on two year working visas to Britain: something they couldn't do until recently.
Generally, work permit and visa applications can be made for most areas of work apart from low level or unskilled jobs (eg manual craft, clerical, secretarial or similar levels, and domestic work like nannies or housekeepers).

Besides Information Technology, which offers possibilities to specialized technicians and engineers, the sectors where the demand is highest are those involving international contacts, tourism, hotel industry, and health.
The most promising sectors for short-term or temporary employment, especially in London, are in the tourism, hospitality and catering industry: hotels, restaurants, fast food joints, bars, clubs and pubs, characterized by a very high turnover of personnel and a high demand of both full-time and part-time staff, even for short periods of time.
And, if you know how to drive a bus, there is a constant demand for bus drivers in London. There are currently 7,000 vacancies in London for nurses, and 1,300 for bus drivers.
