The building has undergone extensive restoration, but Casa Bellavista is still furnished with family owned pieces from the 18th to 20th centuries.

The building, now completely restored, preserves intact the original style of the l5th century. The oldest part of the town house goes even beyond, dating back to the Middle Ages, to the time when San Gimignano itself was founded. Traces of the well and the area around it from that age remain, hence the hotel's name (The Ancient Well).
It was donated to a religious order who lived in it until the end of the 17th century, and was the scene of religious trials during the Inquisition.
